This was our second time taking care of Eva and Thijs’s pets and house in Almere. We already knew their two cats, Charly and Bowie. Saartje, the dog we had cared for in 2022, sadly passed away in the meantime. This visit, we were asked to pick up Bella, a Bernese Mountain Dog, from a friend who had been looking after her for a few weeks before our arrival.
Bella was cheerful, enthusiastic, playful, and occasionally a bit stubborn—but above all, she was incredibly sweet and beautiful. We picked her up, and she came along with us as if nothing had changed. We took her for walks three times a day, and she could also enjoy some off-leash time. Caring for Bella was a joy.
Charly and Bowie spent more time outdoors compared to our first stay. They were often at the neighbors’ home, as the neighbors also provided them with food and water. We had very good communication with the neighbors, and we kept each other updated about the cats—their food, grooming, and general well-being.
Eva and Thijs are very relaxed hosts, and their home in the Duin area of Almere is spacious, with plenty of walking routes for Bella. There are also various cafés, restaurants, and supermarkets within walking or cycling distance.
We had another wonderful stay, and we hope to be able to help them again in the future.
