In 2019 we had our first contact with Jacki and Gary. They offered a house sit for May-June 2020 because they booked a holiday, but because of Covid that was postponed for 2 years. We stayed in contact those 2 years and we visited them because we had several sits in the same area. Finally, we got the chance to take care of their beautiful property Finca Montgo and the lovely cat Missy. We arrived 2 days before Jacki and Gary would go on holiday, so they had enough time to explain the property and to go through the duties. Jacki explained us how to handle the guests and how to prepare their breakfast. During our sit we had the pleasure of welcoming guests at Finca Montgo. Iwan’s parents and aunt and uncle came over and also our friends Helen and Nigel from Murcia (for whom we did a sit in the past), but also some returning guests who stayed here several times before. So the pressure was on! We have to say, it was a real pleasure and we had a really good experience with all of the guests. We made sure the property was always clean, the pool was clean, the apartments were clean and we served the breakfasts as explained by Jacki. We also had some challenges to deal with, such as overheated solar panels, motor for the water pump that stopped regularly because of electricity issues, the sprinkler system for the lawn that stopped working during our stay, we had to deal with the internet provider because of a bad internet connection and another cat that chased Missy on the property. But we managed it all, also because we had smooth and easy going communication with Jacki and Gary during their trip.
During this time Iwan celebrated his 50th birthday and Kirsten arranged a surprise party for him with six home owners in the region where we sat for in the past. It was a very nice evening and we realized that house and pet sitting gave us our freedom but also new friendships. We definitely would recommend this sit to other sitters, but we hope to come back to look after Finca Montgo and Missy again. Many thanks for this lovely experience, Jacki and Gary.
