We found this sit via www.trustedhousesitters.com and we spoke with Chiara and Peter before we arrived at their place. It was a special housesit because of all the different animals and our first housesit in The Netherlands. Funny thing was that one of the dogs was also named Iwan! The night before Peter and Chiara left, Iwan, an adopted rescue dog from Bulgaria, bite Peter. That was our start…… Iwan and Noeschka are adopted rescue dogs. Noeschka has normally some issues with men around her, but it went well with Iwan, the sitter. Iwan, the dog, was a little dominant when he was inside, but during our walks with both of them there were no issues at all. We could walk them of leash in the forest and meadows that surrounds the home of Peter and Chiara. And, we got another challenge. Taking care of 2 horses. One, Lytske, is a Frysian horse from 600 kg! The other one, Sanne, is a Shetland pony. We had to feed them and clean the stables. Lytske needed some medications, but all went well and we really enjoyed this new experience! Furthermore, we had to feed 3 Indian ducks and 4 cats. The heating system was based on a wood burner that provided pressure and heat for the central heating and warm water. The temperature inside the house was nice and warm. We visited some places in the area and we are satisfied with this nice experience!

We asked Kirsten and Iwan to take care of our home and animals including horses, despite the fact that they had never before taken care of horses before. The reason we trusted them with our horses was because they communicated very well and quick from the momentwe started talking about a housesit and because they clearly showed interest in learning about these big animals. They were willing to come a day early to have time to get to know not only the horses, but also the dogs, cats and ducks. One of our dogs doesn’t warm up to just anybody but Iwan and Kirsten just gave her time to adjust to them and this clearly paid off. We have never seen this dog so relaxed with strangers. We loved that they asked many questions about animalcare but also about how we treat the dogs, the commands we use etcetera as to minimize the guesswork later on. And when we were gone, they sent us more updates than we asked for with a lot of pictures, which clearly showed how well it all went. On top of that when we came home, Iwan was willing to pick us up at the station later in the evening and we arrived to find our house in a cleaner state than when we left! Itdoesn’tgetmuchbetter!
