This was the first time we got the opportunity to run a self catered holiday property during the holiday season and it was absolutely fantastic! We found this opportunity at www.housecarers.com and we first spoke with Kath and Andy via a video call. Before we both decided to accept this opportunity, we visited the place in December 2018 to be sure if we would like this area and the setup of the holiday houses. After our 2 nights stay, we decided immediately to accept this opportunity.
We arrived end of March and Andy was doing some maintenance together with his friend Clyve and we started to clean the property with 4-holiday apartments, a big swimming pool, a gym, a library, a bar which was built around the old machinery from the former mill, and our own accommodation.
The tasks were keeping the apartments and the property tidy and clean. Make sure the water pump, swimming pool and sewage system were functioning and feed the 7 white doves and the fishes in the pond.
We received 32 bookings that year of which 50% was family and friends. We really enjoyed this super nice experience and we really appreciated the very nice and easy-going communication with Kath and Andy. Also, during this sit we had to make costs for all kind of operations and there was never an issue about money. Andy made a deposit and when it was used and we notified him with a specification of the costs, he sent a new deposit right away. Andy arrived around the 10th of October together with Clive to inspect the property and to do some maintenance before the winter started.
Kath and Andy and of course our family and friends and all the other guests and the people in Zagra, made this a super nice experience we’ll never forget.
