This was the second time we could stay at “La maison de la tour” a big property with 3 buildings on it. The main house, which was almost unfurnished, because the property was for sale during our stay. The cottage, is where we stayed during our stay. A small cozy cottage, easy to heat and lovely to stay. The gite, bigger than the cottage with 2 bed rooms on the second floor and a big open floor plan with kitchen, dining and lounge area. Very beautifully decorated. The barn is where all the equipment is stored.

Ziggy, the cat we looked after during the first time we stayed here in 2018, was not at the property anymore, so this time we were focused on keeping the property tidy and clean (raking and weeding).

During our stay the property was signed to sell. We had approximately 15 viewings, from potential buyers, during our stay. We had good and regular contact with Saralynn, the owner, and also with the real estate agents and also with the buyers! The property was sold during our stay and maybe the new owners will invite us to come over and look after this property in the future.

Despite the duties on the property, we had enough time to explore the area and we visited, Le Bugue, Sarlat la Caneda, Perigeux, Bergerac and off course a castle and some caves. We started with sunny, warm weather (short sleeves and shorts during cycling with 24C) and we ended with -6C at the end of our sit. Almost all the leaves fell of during our sit, so we had some good workouts to keep us a lit bit in shape.

At the start of our sit the handover was handled by Lily, the sitter till we arrived, and at the end of our sit we did the hand over to Sara and Joni, the new sitters. All in good communication with Saralynn.

During our stay we had to go to the service point from Orange to deal with internet issues and we had a waterpipe burst because of the frost. All issues were easy to handle. Eduardo, the gardner and handyman was always available to discuss issues.

We had a good experience again with Saralynn and we did enjoy our stay in the Perigord region of France. The house sit was arranged directly with Saralyn and confirmed via www.trustedhousesitters.com

Iwan and Kirsten are brilliant sitters. They had been to Pecany before, in 2018, and I had no hesitation in asking them back. They are so good at communication, and using their initiative. I didn’t see them whilst they were at the house, but I had no worries whatsoever. They went above and beyond their commitments, and our sales agents remarked on how clean and tidy the house and gardens were. I can’t thank them enough and recommend them 100%.
