We met Jolanda, the owner, during our first housesit in Cadiar in 2018 on a terrace and we had a chat with her and her daughter. A week later we visited her cortijo close to Murtas, 25 km outside Cadiar, and we had a delicious meal. A couple of months later we had contact again and she asked us if we would like to take care of her animals for a week, so she had the time to arrange a couple of things. We agreed and we had a unique experience. The cortijo lies between the Meditarrean coast and the Alpjuarras at 1.000-meter altitude. We had to warm the living area/kitchen with a wood burner but there was no warm water at that time. The 3 dogs were amazing, enthusiast and friendly. They lived outside and are the fittest dogs we have seen. Really nice personalities. During one of our walks through the area, they chased a big boar and they passed us at 15 meters. Luckily none of them or we were injured. We also had to take care of 13 hens and got the daily fresh eggs for breakfast. We sold the eggs we didn’t eat and left the money for Jolanda. And last but not least, we had one cat we had to look after. She lived inside, because of the dogs. A one of a kind housesit that was not arranged via one of the platforms.
