This was our first time looking after the property of our friends Marjolein and Harry, whom we originally met on Curaçao. They own a beautiful bungalow located on a recreation park in Erm, Drenthe, in the north of the Netherlands. Erm is a very small but exceptionally tidy village, surrounded by beautifully restored farms. It’s a quiet place, yet there are plenty of towns and cities nearby to explore — and we visited many of them. Iwan also traveled to Groningen once a week to work at his company’s main office, and during our stay we joined a local gym.

Our responsibilities were simply to keep the bungalow and garden tidy. Since it was a winter sit, we only needed to mow the lawn twice. We had pleasant contact with the neighbors, and we really enjoyed spending quality time with family and friends during our stay in the Netherlands. Marjolein and Harry were very happy to return to a clean and well-maintained home after their trip through Europe.
